Fodil Seddiki
He was born in 1972
in Algiers, was raised in Europe (primarily Brussels and Paris),
and he spent an important part of his professional career in
the United States.
Seddiki took his
talents to the United States in 1994 where he founded the respected
Boston design studio, Exit33. While heading that company, he
led design projects for major US corporations, assisting them
in establishing visual identity and brand recognition. His focus
on simplicity and clarity resulted in multiple awards for logo
and UI design, as well as widespread demand for his work.
After
10 years in the United States, Seddiki returned to Europe to
explore new artistic endeavors. He continued leading major design
projects for the Boston company he founded (now Xplana.com),
but sought new challenges and opportunities in the diverse cultural
history of Spain.
In Barcelona, Seddiki
has found a wealth of history, design, and architectural styles
that inspire him. His growing love for the city and its creative
energy led to the eventual creation of Granada Design, and he
is committed to providing exceptional artistic expressions to
the many beautiful influences that surround him.
Lee Jang-sub
I majored in visual
communication design at University. During
the University, I organized a design group, called “Anida(say
no)”, with some of my friends and we learned a way to see the
world through design.
I don’t want to
set limits to the field of design, but I will open the possibility.
Above all things, I want to have an open attitude to accept things
and flexibility to comprehend the diverse values in them.
The message I would like to communicate is shown in various media.
Sometimes it goes to a space, and other times it becomes an object
or moving visual image.
Recently, the subject
continuously attracting my attention is “a city, and people
who are living in it.”
I think my area of creation is expanding to a bigger canvas, such
as a city.
This is a process which I do not know what the end is like, so
someday, I may be a pioneer in a totally new field of design if
I keep going after the keyword which becomes extended.
I am fascinated
by the city, Barcelona, so now I live in Barcelona. I
am studying Design & Public Space imagining a joyful and
enjoyable city.
Albert Boton
Albert Boton, graphic designer and creator
of letters, has worked as artistic director in various advertisement
and design agencies including Delpire and Carré Noir. Several
famous logos are attributed to his name : Cacharel, Erato,
Lancel, Christian Dior etc.
Troughout these years he has also taught calligraphy and letters
drawing at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs
and at the Atelier National de Recherche Typographique.
At the same time he independently creates characters, and more
than thirty of his alphabets are available world-wide.
After spending his professional life making his letters legible,
Albert Boton, a lover of drawing and the tension of the curves,
one day felt like breaking them down.
A love of the game or perhaps a desire to give each letter
back its simple graphic beauty. There is no more reading – simply
seeing.
Created on a foundation of kakeboton (vertical painting or calligraphy),
the letter, whether cut short, illegible or whole, becomes in and
of itself a decorative element. |
